All nominated residents MUST REGISTER in order to
attend the 2012 Resident Leadership Forum. Online
registration will close May 18.
The AOA-OREF Resident Leadership Forum acknowledges PGY4
residents as young orthopaedic leaders by recognizing their
accomplishments to-date and giving them an opportunity to develop
their leadership skills.
Program Directors and Department Chairs collaborate to nominate
up to two outstanding PGY4 residents to attend in June.

This two-day event introduces
leadership concepts to young orthopaedists through interactive
sessions:
- Leadership development
- Business/finance tools
- Communications skills
- Management skills
- Peer-to-peer interaction
- Resident-to-leader interaction
Included in registration cost: residents may attend the opening
ceremony and first full day of the AOA Annual Meeting, typically closed
to non-AOA members.
For an additional fee, RLF participants may stay for the entire
AOA Annual Meeting.
Attending the AOA's Annual Meeting gives young orthopaedists
opportunities to:
- Meet orthopaedic leaders at RLF-related professional and social
events
- Participate in AOA activities
Residents return to their programs with:
- A new understanding of what it means to be an orthopaedic
leader as they enter their fifth year of residency
- A new sense of responsibility to the orthopaedic
community
- Automatic eligibility to join the AOA's Emerging Leaders
Program with completion of application
- One issue of the Emerging Leaders Messenger, the
e-newsletter for the Emerging Leaders Program
The Nominating Institution is Responsible
for:
- $500.00 registration fee per resident. Institutions may
submit payment by check after completing registration.
- Travel Arrangements
- Lodging expenses--Make hotel
reservations by May 18 to receive a discounted rate.
