ED Call Coverage Report

Orthopaedic Institute of Medicine (OIOM)

The Orthopaedic Institute of Medicine's overall objective is to provide focused, in-depth, unbiased education, information, and recommendations on issues critical to the profession of orthopaedics and the care of patients with musculoskeletal disease or injury that also impact other disciplines/specialties and/or health care providers.

With its first project on Emergency Department Call Coverage complete, the OIOM Council explored potential topics for a second study. All Council Members agreed that the interface between surgeons and industry met the topic selection criteria.

The OIOM Council gathered individuals with a variety of perspectives, training and positions who have knowledge and experience on this incredibly important topic to serve on the OIOM Task Force (links to task force roster).

To ensure the independent perspective of OIOM, no organization - including the AOA - can alter or approve/reject the final work product of the Task Force. By maintaining this separation, there is increased credibility to the unbiased work of OIOM and its Task Force.
