Do you want to become a Star Performer?

The American Orthopaedic Association regularly recognizes Own the Bone sites as Star Performers for their commitment to improving patient bone health after a fracture.

Own the Bone enrolled hospitals and practices that achieve a 75% compliance rate with at least 5 of the 10 Own the Bone prevention measures, based on patients entered during the preceding 12 month period, receive a special recognition as “Own the Bone Star Performers” in the annual recognition ad in U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals” Guide. Through their participation in Own the Bone and recognition as an Own the Bone Star Performer, institutions demonstrate a commitment to helping patients understand their risk for future fractures and the steps they can take to prevent them.

Star Performers receive additional public relations tools and recognition such as:

How do you know if you're on track to become a Star Performer?

Enrolled Own the Bone institutions can easily check their progress in becoming a Star Performer for the upcoming recognition year. Simply follow the steps below -
1. Log into the Own the Bone registry here
2. Access the "Benchmarking Reports" tab on the blue menu on the left. Once there you are able to pull compliance reports for every educational and counseling measure.
3. For example, to check compliance on calcium counseling you would click "Calcium"
4. Enter the custom time frame of 7/1/2018 to 6/30/2019
5. Click "Next"
6. If, under "Site", the "Yes" row has more than 10 patients in the "Frequency" column and 75% or higher compliance in the "Percent" column you are on track.
7. Repeat steps 3-6 to check your data on the other 9 measures. If you meet the criteria in at least 5 of the 10 reports you are well on your way towards becoming a Star Performer for the 2020 recognition year!
